It's shocking Andrew Luck retires at 29.
Andrew Austin Luck an former professional football player. The No. 1 overall pick for 2102 NFL draft and a four-time Pro Bowl selection was the person who was loved by his fans for hi game.
Why did he retire
Luck called this decision as"The hardest decision of my life by was the perfection one".
He missed most of the matches due to injuries and for the entire season of 2017 he was not playing due to shoulder injuries he was sustaining.
The cycle of injury, pain, stress and rehab were always near him and this made him uncomfortable both on and off the field. He then decided the time has arrived and on Saturday 24 august 2019 he took the decision to retire.
Main injuries he faced
He used to pour the soul in his game and this used to grind his body totally and he faced injuries. The main he faced in the recent seasons were
- Torn cartilage in 2 ribs
- partially torn abdomen
- partially torn abdomen
- a lacerated kidney that left him peeing blood
- a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder
- Calf and ankle injury.
Achievements
He ends his career with 23,671 passing yards, 171 touchdowns, and 83 interceptions, as well as a 53-33 record as a starter and four Pro Bowl appearances, including last year.
His 39 touchdown passes were also one off the career high he set in 2014. Despite being out for entire season in 2017 in 2018 he was named NFL comeback player of the year.
What's next for him
He is a Stanford graduate with an architectural design degree but was always on the field as the love for the sport never let him do anything other then playing. Hope now he will explore his design side to flourish it by achievements.
He is going to take some time to think and settle and we can know what he wants to do with the rest of his life.
Colts really need to think about this
His physical condition also have given the management to think about the mental and physical state of the player and the burden on matches of heavy schedule on players.
Else the management not only from colts but other teams should not be shocked if the professionals take an early retirement from the game
