Why "Wear it purple" is trending in Australia
August 30th is wear it purple day. This day is all about celebrating and supporting LGBTQI community. It is a way of showing respect to the community, accepting them and not making them feel uncomfortable about the choices of gender orientation they have made in their life.
The supporting people popularly know as rainbow young people strive to support, protect and became their voice to let them be for who they are.
Why and who started "wear it purple" day
In 2010, several rainbow young people lost their lives due to the bullying ,harassment resulting in lack of acceptance by the society for their sexuality and gender orientation.
This led to start a non-profit organization by Katherine Hudson and Scott Williams in the year of 2010 in Australia . They named their organization as wear it purple which now have became an international movement.
It is celebrated on the last Friday of the month of august every year and they way to show your involvement you have to wear purple on that day.
How you can be a part of it
- Wear the brightest of purple color you have in your wardrobe on that day.
- Tell the people near you the reason for you wearing purple today.
- Hashtag your social media with #wearitpurple post to create awareness and importance for your fans and followers of that day.
- Donate or help the organization wear it purple to achieve their mission.
